The Journey Begins
Your adventure kicks off with a scenic boda boda right or hike through the lush countryside, taking you to one of the entrances of Kasyoha-Kitomi Forest Reserve—a hidden gem teeming with over 320 bird species, primates, and breathtaking landscapes. As you step into the forest, you’re greeted by the sounds of nature, a gentle breeze, and most likley many children that you meet along the way.
A Walk Through Nature and Tradition
Your first stop is a local community, where you, if you are lucky, witness the traditional distillation of banana gin, an age-old craft passed down through generations. We offer special banana gin tours too!
From here, the trail leads you across a serene river and a picturesque waterfall, offering the perfect moment to pause and take in the beauty of your surroundings. Deeper into the rainforest, you’ll discover ancient fig trees—over a thousand years old—standing as a silent witness to centuries of history. Keep an eye out for monkeys swinging through the canopy, a reminder of the rich biodiversity that thrives in this untouched paradise.

Reaching the Transparent Lake
After about an hour and a half, the dense forest gives way to a more open landscape. Soon, the crown jewel of the journey appears—Lake Kamunzuku, also known as the Transparent Lake. This pristine crater lake is unlike any other. Its crystal-clear waters shimmer in shades of blue, offering an inviting oasis for those eager to take a dip.
